Reykjavík
Hallgrímskirkja tower + sky bar
The classic: golden-hour rooftops from the church tower, then cocktails above the street.
More about this plan
An hour before sunset, take the elevator up Hallgrímskirkja. The view of Reykjavík's pastel rooftops stretching out to Esja and the bay is the image everyone has seen, and it is somehow better in person.
Walk back down Skólavörðustígur, the best shopping street in town, and duck into Mál og Menning for five minutes of pretending to look at poetry.
End at Pablo Discobar on Veltusund — a Mexican-Caribbean rooftop cocktail bar with bright tiling, decent margaritas, and a terrace. If it's full try Loftið next door. This is a first-date-proof plan: short, scenic, no logistics.
